Dominica: In a Test match on Wednesday, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the first Indian bowler to dismiss both a father and a son.

Ashwin set the record on Wednesday's opening day of India's first Test match against the West Indies when he dismissed Tagnarine Chanderpaul at 12 (44). He had earlier dismissed West Indian legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul, the father of Tagnarine.

Lance and Chris Cairns were dropped from the list in addition to Ashwin and Ian Botham. The same pair were also eliminated by Pakistani bowler Wasim Akram during his career. The wickets of Shivnarine and Tagnarine Chanderpaul have also been taken by Australian bowlers Mitchell Starc and Simon Harmer.

Ravichandran Ashwin, another Indian spinner, joined this bowler as the third to reach 700 international wickets. In Dominica's debut test match against the West Indies, he dominated the opening session of Day One by taking two wickets.

This was a significant factor in the hosts' defeat, as West Indies was bundled out with a score of 150. India's openers got the innings off to a strong start in response to the hosts' score.

Even though Rohit received a few early LBW yells, India's opening stand held up well in the third session. Yashasvi Jaiswal had some time to get going, but as soon as he became comfortable with the pitch conditions, he began to confidently take on the bowlers.

With a skillfully performed shot that found the barrier for a four, he opened his account. He attempted to hit the boundary again with a subsequent shot, but the fielder stopped him from claiming consecutive boundaries.

On the other side, Rohit appeared assured during the most of the third session with his shot selection and defensive strategy.

On the other side, West Indies bowlers had trouble maintaining consistency in their line and length. This was made clear when the umpire's decision to reject their review for an LBW appeal against Rohit Sharma. Both players want to turn their troubling starts into significant scores on Day 2.
