NEW DELHI: With his 6/91 performance against Australia in the drawn Ahmedabad Test, India's star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took sole ownership of the top slot in the most recent ICC Test Rankings for bowlers, which were published on Wednesday.

Ashwin's 25 wickets at an average of 17.28 earned him a share of the Player of the Series award. With that effort, he soared to the top of the standings and is now 10 rating points ahead of seasoned English pacer James Anderson.

After scoring 186 as Player of the Match and snapping a 1205-day century drought in tests, talisman Virat Kohli moved up seven spots to 13th place in the ICC Test Rankings for hitters. After scoring hundreds in Ahmedabad, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green (up 11 spots to 26th) and Indian all-rounder Shubman Gill (up 17 spots to 46th) have made gains as well.

After an outstanding 264 runs over the four games, left-arm spin all-rounder Axar Patel has climbed eight spots to position 44 on the list of hitters and one spot to position 4 overall on the list of all-rounders.

Usman Khawaja, the left-handed opener for Australia, moved up two spots to seventh place and a career-high 815 rating points thanks to his 180 in the fourth Test match against India that was drawn in Ahmedabad.

With a new career high of 853 rating points, Travis Head, a left-handed middle-order batter who recently switched to opening, had a successful series despite the ups and downs. He maintained his fifth-place status among Test batters.
Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand, an all-rounder, reached a career-high seventh position and over the 800-point threshold for the first time with to his knocks of 102 and 81 during the thrilling triumph over Sri Lanka in Christchurch.

Angelo Mathews of Sri Lanka is another player to advance in the Test batting rankings after scoring 47 and 115 to jump from 19th to 17th place. Tim Southee, the captain of New Zealand, improved from 18th to 12th place in the bowlers' standings after recording 5/64 and 2/57.

Temba Bavuma, the Proteas captain, rose 14 points to rank as the 15th-best Test hitter overall following the conclusion of the South Africa-West Indies series, while colleague Aiden Markram climbed 11 spaces to 22nd.

Kyle Mayers, a seam bowling all-arounder for West Indies, moved up three ranks to seventh overall on the list of all-rounders and climbed ten spaces to 32nd on the list of Test bowlers.

Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh advanced 68 spots to rank 16 in the Men's T20I Player Rankings thanks to his scores of 51, 46 not out, and 47 not out against England at home, which also earned him the Player of the Series award.
