RBI announces major RTGS service, services to remain closed across the country for 14 hours on this day

New Delhi: If you also use the bank's real time gross settlement service, the latest RBI alert is for you. The Reserve Bank of India today tweeted that the RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) service used to send more than Rs 2 lakh will not be available for 14 hours from midnight on Saturday, April 17. Customers can use this service only after 2 pm on 18th April.

The Central Bank said that technical upgradation of rtgs system is being carried out to further improve the disaster recovery time, so the service will remain 14 hours long. The central bank has asked the customer to avoid inconvenience that the popular National Electronic Funds Transfer used for transactions up to Rs 2 lakh will continue to function as before.

The Reserve Bank of India informed on Monday that after the end of trading on 17th April, 2021, RTGS will be technologically upgraded to improve the capacity of rtgs system and further improve disaster recovery time. According to the statement, the RTGS service will therefore not be available from 00:00 hrs (Saturday night) on April 17, 2021 to 18 April 14.00 pm (till Sunday) the next day. Rbi said member banks can inform their customers about their payment operations plans accordingly. RTGS facility is available 24 hours from 14th December last year. With this, India is among the few countries where this facility works 24 hours a day.
