You might have seen in various new age public washrooms appear very different from those we have at home. There are a number of practically designed reasons for the differences. You might have seen toilet doors in offices, schools, colleges, and other public places have a gap at the bottom that allows people on the outside to see an occupant's feet. However, this is not possible in Indian Toilets while it is very common in Western washrooms.

Now TikToker MattypStories opens up about the gap and explains some reason for this gap. The first reason is at time of emergency these toilet are best. He said, "First off, if there’s ever an emergency, it’d be pretty easy to see what happened and get the person some help," .  He further explained the hygiene reason and said, "Secondly, it makes it way easier to clean. Public bathrooms are used quite often, meaning that they need to be cleaned many times throughout the day, and having the space under the door makes it a lot easier.".

The Third reason of the gap at the bottom is that it allows security and cleaners to keep a check on undesirable public behavior like drug use, violence and sexual activity and the last reason is its cost-effectiveness. It is also economical reasoning as short doors are also considered cost-effective because it is cheaper to buy a small door rather than a full one. “And finally, it’s a lot cheaper to buy a door that has part of it cut off than the full door itself,” the man concluded.
