โ€‹ Aloo ka Halwa unique and tasty Indian dessert recipe made with a combination of grated potato, sugar, and ghee. vegetable grate-based halwa is very common but using potato grate is something unique and is known for its starch and carbs-rich dessert. it is generally prepared in winter but can be prepared for any occasion and celebration ritual.

 

Ingredients for Aloo Halwa

·         3 large potatoes, boiled

·         1 Tbsp ghee

·         1/2 cup sugar

·         1/2 cup milk

·         1/2 Tbsp cashews chopped & lightly roasted

·         1/4 Tbsp almonds flaked or chopped

·         A pinch of cardamom powder

·         1/2 Tbsp raisins

Boil the potatoes and peel off the skin. Once, done mash it with your hands. In a pan, pour some ghee and let it heat. Then add the mashed potatoes and let it roast for 1-2 minutes. Add milk, sugar, and raisins to the potatoes and mix them well. Cook for another 8-10 minutes and stir frequently. Add cardamom and stir. Garnish with flaked almonds & cashews. Serve hot.

Aloo Halwa’s ingredients are super rich in carbs/starch and when mixed with sugar supply an abundance of glucose to the body. Hence it is mainly served during the fasting season and hence also known as fasting dessert. it can also be served in winter to overcome the cold weather but may not be limited to one particular season and can be made throughout the year for any occasion.
