Lucknow: Recently, various organizations have welcomed the letter sent by the state government to the Center for a change in the process of the three-tier panchayat to be held next year. There is a demand to amend the constitution for this. Where the Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Organization and Principal Associations have also run a signature campaign, demanding the election of district and area panchayat presidents directly with the public to curb the politics of horse-trading in the panchayats.

According to the sources, General Secretary of All India Village Pradhan Sangathan Nanak Chand Sharma said that the demand for holding direct elections from the people on the posts of presidents to eliminate corruption in the district and area panchayats has been going on for a long time. There is also a signature campaign going on. On the other hand, a letter has been written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in support of the demand for direct elections to the presidents of the district and area panchayats.

Meerut District Panchayat President Kulvindra Gurjar and Hapur District Panchayat President Amrita Kumar also said that a memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Minister seeking direct election from the public on the post of President. Conducting direct elections under the BJP's corruption-free campaign will be a historic initiative.

Over 209 block chiefs and 23 district heads in seven years:  The result of the election of the district and area panchayats by the members is that in the last seven years, about 209 block chiefs and 42 district panchayat presidents were removed by bringing the no-confidence motion by the members. There were allegations of corruption of crores of rupees in the purchase of members. Governments were also accused that this coup used to take place only at their behest. Farmer leader Jaichand Bhagat says that if corruption is to be removed from the panchayats, then direct elections to the post of president in district and area panchayats should be conducted on the lines of urban bodies.
