New Delhi:- Red Bull's firmware has so far been disappointing for the team. Six drivers are linked with Red Bull in Formula 2, with Ayumu Iwasa taking the top spot. He is currently third in the F2 driver standings. Red Bull director Christian Horner addressed the decline saying that Red Bull planned to reduce investment in F2.

Horner said it will shift resources from F2 to lower feeder chains, including F3, F4 and Formula E. He told ESPN Unlapped: "We have a lot of drivers in F2 this year and that will reduce in the future to focus again on some of the lower form."

Red Bull supports six drivers which is the most drivers supported by a single team in F2 history. Red Bull currently believes that this huge investment is not yielding the expected results and is currently looking at different avenues to find promising young talent.

Red Bull's teen program has been a hit lately. The team's recent announcement of downsizing F2 and hiring Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo is proof of their current situation. Captain Christian Horner remained adamant in his belief that their teen show was a success and even went as far as to say that their opponents should thank them.

Horner said Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, Williams' Alex Albon and Alpine's Pierre Gasly are Red Bull graduates. Although Albon and Gasly were mercilessly sacked by Red Bull in the 2019 season, he said that although they had no place on the team, they had worked wonders elsewhere.

The Red Bulls are known for providing a very harsh environment for their young riders. The most recent manifestation of this was the dismissal of Nyck De Vries from Red Bull's sister team AlphaTauri after just ten races at the start of the season.
