This case has come up from Bihar where the victim, who hails from Thana Koda area of Katihar district of Bihar, was married to Mohammed Shamim of Araria district about 7 years ago. According to the reports, it is alleged that the father provided whatever was possible in the form of dowry, but the in-laws who craved dowry started harassing the bride.

In a state of unconsciousness, the in-laws sold her in the Red Light area of Kanpur.'
