Some Outdoor activity

The layout invites you to explore and enjoy the great outdoors. If you want to get your kids off the screen, this is the place to do it. For guests, bike rental, archery, and golf are all included as part of the package. There are plenty of good trails to go mountain biking well beyond the borders of the accommodation. You could also just take a leisurely ride around the picturesque lake.

SEGWAY

It costs extra, but if you haven’t already tried riding a Segway, this is the perfect place to do it. Not only is the scenery spectacular, but you have plenty of space to practice and play. These are also the off-road versions with chunky tyres that grip in the dirt. After introductory lessons, a guide will take you around the grounds of the resort.

FOODIE Paradise

Keep an eye out for special dining events, such as the series of regional dinners at the on-site lakefront Cuisine restaurant and book yourself in. Each features a guest chef from a renowned regional restaurant.

HORSES FOR COURSES

Also, close by is Thredbo Valley Horse riding, where you can get a real taste of the high country from the back of a ride of the four-legged kind. The easy trail ride winds through bush tracks where you’ll get great views of the Snowy Mountains area.

STAY WELL

There’s an on-site heated pool, gym, and sauna right next to the Spa and Wellness Centre. The pool is kept at a balmy 26C, so even if you don’t think you’ll want to swim, it’s best to bring your cossies anyway — at the very least for the sauna. Also, keep an eye out for special deals at the day spa. A relaxation massage is a great way to end a day in the mountains.

GETTING THERE

Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa is in Thredbo Valley on the border of Kosciuszko National Park in the NSW Snowy Mountains area. It’s about a 5.5-hour drive from Sydney.
