Nita Ambani, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), honored Olympic and Paralympic athletes at the 'United in Triumph' event held on Sunday. The event took place at the Ambani family’s residence, Antilia, and was attended by prominent athletes including Neeraj Chopra, Manu Bhaker, and Navdeep Singh.
The gathering celebrated the outstanding achievements of Olympians and Paralympians, marking a significant moment as nearly 140 athletes united under one roof for the first time. This event aimed to highlight the spirit of sports and the pride it brings to the nation.
Among the esteemed attendees were legendary figures in Indian sports such as Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic Gold medalist, and Devendra Jhajharia, the first Indian to win two Paralympic Golds and President of the Paralympic Committee of India. Other notable personalities included Deepa Malik, Sania Mirza, Karnam Malleswari, Pullela Gopichand, and Harbhajan Singh.
The event also welcomed athletes like Sumit Antil, Nitesh Kumar, Harvinder Singh, and former Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who attended with his family. Para-shuttlers Suhas Yathiraj and Nitesh Kumar, who achieved success at the recent Paris Paralympics, were also present.
During the event, Nita Ambani expressed her pride in the athletes, stating, "It's a very special evening. For the first time, India's Paris Olympians and Para-Olympians are gathering on the same platform. We are so proud of them, and all Indians are proud of every one of them. Today, we are going to honor them and show them the love and respect that we have for them. On behalf of the Reliance Foundation, we wish that 'United We Triumph' can become a movement."
In addition to the athletes, Bollywood stars Kartik Aryan and Ranveer Singh also attended, adding glamour to this historic occasion aimed at celebrating and uniting India's sporting heroes.
