Reliance Jio subsidiary Radisys to buy Mimosa Networks for USD60-Mn

BANGALORE: Radisys Corp, a unit of Reliance Industries Ltd owned Jio Platforms, will acquire Mimosa Networks from US-based IT services company Airspan Networks Holdings Inc for USD60 million on a debt-free, cash-free basis, the companies said on Thursday, March 9.

The sale of Mimosa Networks, Inc. (Mimosa) to Radisys for $60 million on a debt-free, cash-free basis was announced today by Airspan Networks Holdings (Airspan) and Radisys Corporation (Radisys), a wholly owned subsidiary of Jio Platforms Limited (Jio) "based on the assertion. Reliance A shareholder in Airspan with a seat on the board of directors is Jio Infocomm USA Inc, a completely owned step-down subsidiary of Jio.

Following Radisys' acquisition of Mimosa, its 56-person product development, manufacturing, and sales teams will remain with the company. In addition, Airspan will keep selling Mimosa products to some of its clients and will continue to maintain a reseller channel for particular joint 4G/5G and FWA projects.

Jio President Mathew Oommen commented on the deal, saying, "Acquisition of Mimosa will further accelerate Jio's innovation and leadership in the production of telecom network products that deliver value to consumers and enterprises around the world with affordable, quickly deployable fixed and mobile broadband."

Mimosa was acquired by Airspan in 2018 in order to focus on fixed wireless access network connections that are affordable. Based on WiFi 5 and the more recent WiFi 6E technologies, Mimosa offers a wide range of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions in addition to related accessories including twist-on antennas and PoE Injectors.

These systems have applications in the 5G and FTTX/FWA rollouts' backhaul needs. Jio has been a significant client of Mimosa's.
