Reliance Jio tops wireless subscribers addition for fifth month in a row in August

New Delhi: Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd added the highest number of wireless subscribers for the fifth straight month in August, as compared to its competitors, data released by the Telecom showed.

In comparison to a month prior, the company's net subscriber addition increased in August. Comparatively to the 2.95 million subscribers added in July, the corporation net added 3.28 million members in August. Increased demand before the festival season may be the cause of the increase in net user addition. The corporation had 419.24 million wireless subscribers as of the end of August, and its market share increased to 36.5 percent from 36.2 percent in July.

In contrast, the second-largest telecom provider in India, Bharti Airtel Ltd, added 326,205 wireless users on a net basis, the smallest increase in ten months. The corporation had 363.81 million wireless subscribers as of the end of August, and its market share stayed the same at 31.66 percent. The 17th consecutive month saw subscriber losses for Vodafone Idea Ltd. Compared to 1.54 million subscribers lost in July, the company lost 1.96 million users in August. At the end of August, the corporation had 253.14 million users overall, and its market share had decreased from 22.22 percent in July to 22.03 percent.

In August, the number of wireless broadband customers in the nation increased by 5.65 million, bringing the total to 782.46 million. The majority of 4G network users are also among the wireless broadband users. While Vodafone Idea added 150,000 wireless broadband subscribers in August, bringing its subscriber base to 123.12 million, Bharti Airtel added 1.72 million wireless broadband users in August, bringing the overall number to 218.85 million.
