Maihar is small district in the Satna city of Madhya Pradesh. The place known and famous for Maa Sharda temple and has lot of importance in Hindu Mythology.

Maihar is name made from two distinct words in hindi as MAI + HAR , that is when Lord Shiva was carrying the dead body of Goddess Sati her necklace had fallen to this place  and then this place was named as Maihar that is “mother’s necklace”. 

The state is very ancient as it was established in the year 1778 by the Jogis who were given land by Orrcha king. The place belongs to Paleolithic age as a lot of primitive kind of stones is discovered in the city. The city is moreover famous for its Maa Sharda temple build around 502 A.D situated at top of Trikoota hill and you need to climb 1063 steps to reach the top of the hill.
