Bangalore: The Karnataka assembly last Tuesday raised the issue of converting Hindus to Christianity. Former minister and BJP MLA Gulihatti Shekhar raised the issue and demanded action against Christian missionaries. He also said that those who oppose it are being implicated in false cases of missionary rape and torture. State Home Minister A Gyanendra assured him of action in this direction and said that it is a crime to convert by inducement.
Gulihatti Shekhar said that she has also been asked not to apply kumkum tilak on her forehead by converting his mother. The situation is such that his mother no longer wants to see even the idol of gods and goddesses installed in the place of worship of the house. The ringtone of the phone has been converted into Christian prayers. MLA Shekhar said Christian missionaries operating in his area called his mother to pray. Told her that she would feel good. Then they trapped her in their trap. He said, "We are having problems worshipping at home. It has become very difficult for us. If we try to tell mother anything, she says she will end her life.''
Drawing attention to the missionaries active in the Hosadurga Assembly, MLA said, "Large scale conversions are taking place in the Missionary Hosdurga assembly constituency. Hinduism has converted 18 to 20,000 people into Christians. The BJP leader alleged that those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes who have been converted by Christian missionaries threaten to implicate them in false rape cases when they are explained about it.''
