Actress Sharmila Tagore has also remembered Lata and says she regrets that she can no longer take Lata Mangeshkar Award from her hands.

In this regard, Sharmila Tagore has said that - 'I was also nominated for the Lata Mangeshkar Awards in 2020, which was postponed due to the coronavirus. Lataji called me again in 2021. At that time I was scared due to the second wave of Corona. I had requested her to give this award this year. It's a big regret that I won't be able to get it from her. It would have been such a wonderful moment, which I have now rejected. It was the last time I spoke toh her.'

Continuing her point, Sharmila Tagore has further said that- 'I went to see the movie palace when I was little and the only thing I remember is the song Aayega Aane Wala... with Madhubala on the swing. After which I saw Mughal-e-Azam. Lata ji's voice was natural and she sang songs for decades. Her voice was God-given. I have seen her sing. In those days people recorded with an orchestra, and her voice was essentially first-take OK. She sang with correct pronunciation in many languages. Her voice is incomparable and will remain immortal.
