New Delhi: Diwali is the main festival of Hinduism. This festival is celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month. This year, this festival will be celebrated on 14 November. Preparations for Diwali begin several days before the festival. People used to clean and paint their house and is decorated with colourful lights. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi comes home in Diwali. Some tasks are necessary to welcome them. These tasks are as follows: -

Broken mirror
According to Vastushastra, keeping a broken mirror activates negative energy in the house and family members have to face mental stress.

Broken furniture
According to Vastu Shastra, keeping broken furniture in the house is considered inauspicious. Home furniture should be in perfect condition. According to Vastu, wear and tear in furniture has a bad effect.

Broken sculptures
Never worship a damaged or broken statue or picture of a deity. Before Diwali, to remove misfortune, take such pictures and idols to a holy place and suppress them.

Broken dishes
Never use broken utensils. This Diwali, you must remove all such utensils which you have not been using for a long time or are broken. These cause controversy in the house.

Used shoes
While cleaning the house before Diwali, do not forget to remove your old shoes and slippers which you do not use. Torn-shoes and slippers bring negativity and bad luck to the house.
