A decrease in GST collection was seen as compared to last 2 months. GST collection in November was Rs 80,808 crores which were Rs 83,000 crore in October. On Tuesday, the finance ministry has released data related to GST collection.

The finance ministry tweeted that until December 25, 2017, there was a collection of Rs 80,808 crore in December. This is the second consecutive month when GST collection has decreased.

In December 2017, Rs 80,808 crore under GST, Rs 13,089 crore under CGST, Rs 18,650 crore under SGST, Rs 41,270 crore under IGST and Rs 7,798 crore under Compensation amount.

Ministry of Finance @FinMinIndia tweeted, "The total collection under GST for the month of December 2017 has been Rs. 80,808 crores until 25th December 2017."

Behind the deficit in GST collection in November, the past 28 months of GST is being said to be the reason to exclude many things. According to the Finance Ministry tweets, under the mutual adjustment of payment of central and state level GST with IGST credit, 10,348 crores are being transferred from IGST to CGST accounts and Rs 14,488 crores from IGST to SGST account.

The collection for November may also be on the lower side due to substantial rate cuts from mid of the month. While to a large extent the shortfall is likely to be offset by an increase in demand, the results may take another 2-3 months to become visible.
