Delhi University has announced a special provision for students participating in the Republic Day parade. Students from the university, particularly final-year students affiliated with the Delhi contingent of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), will have the chance to make up for any missed exams.

On January 26, the Republic Day parade will see 2,274 cadets marching along the Kartavya path, with representatives from Delhi University forming a significant part of the Delhi Contingent. Notably, this year's parade will showcase a historic participation of 907 girl cadets.

In a move to support students engaged in national and international sports events, such as the Olympics, the university is contemplating extending similar exam-relaxation opportunities.

Delhi University officials emphasized the importance of students gaining practical experiences outside the traditional classroom setting. Encouraging participation in events like these is seen as a means to provide exposure and cultivate a sense of nationalism among the youth, according to statements from university spokesperson Arora.

'Republic Day Celebration in Delhi'

With the 75th Republic Day approaching, heightened security measures have been implemented in Delhi. The Delhi Police, on high alert, is utilizing 'flare guns' or Very Light Pistols (VLP) to illuminate the forested areas of northeast Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey reported ongoing intensive patrolling and combing operations along the Yamuna River bank and Khadar area. Night patrolling staff has been instructed to inspect security arrangements at hotels, guest houses, and dharamshalas, particularly near railway stations and inter-state bus terminals. This includes checking records to identify individuals visiting the national capital and their purpose for doing so.
