New Delhi: Several resident doctors in the national capital Delhi on Monday protested against the delay in NEET-PG counselling and returned their lab coat aprons, as well as took out street marches. The doctors tried to march from the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) campus to the Supreme Court. Delhi Police stopped them near ITO and some doctors and policemen were injured in the scuffle.

 

Doctors say we also tried to march from the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) campus to the supreme court. As soon as we started the march, the security personnel did not allow us to move forward. Association president Manish alleged that several doctors were taken into custody by the police and taken to the police station premises. He also alleged that police force was used which injured some doctors.

Delhi Police said, seven policemen were injured during a protest by resident doctors near ITO on Monday. According to police, when the protesters were being removed from the streets, they tried to tear the uniforms of the policemen. They broke the glass of the police vehicle and misbehaved with the jawans. The continued doctors' agitation affected the treatment of patients in three Centrally run hospitals - Safdarjung, RML and Lady Hardinge Hospitals as well as some Delhi government hospitals.
