Life was brought to a standstill due to strict restrictions. Producers of apple and other dry fruits like walnuts and saffron have been greatly affected by this situation. Restrictions in the supply of these products outside the state have occurred due to restrictions. All these items come from the Kashmir Valley in the wholesale market of Jammu, from where they are supplied all over the country. The terrorists are trying to spread panic among the people by writing anti-India slogans on the apples exported from Kashmir. On Friday, terrorists also set the apple boxes on fire.

On receiving the information, the security forces reached the spot and succeeded in thwarting the nefarious designs of the terrorists. But during this time, apples kept in five to six boxes were burnt to ashes. Till October 9 this year, farmers of Jammu and Kashmir have exported 4.5 lakh tonnes of apples. The export of 4.5 lakh tonnes of apples is about 1.25 lakh tonnes less than the same period of 2018 last year.

For information, let us tell you that India is the third-largest apple producing country in the world. Apple is one of the most consumed imported fruits in India. Apples are produced in hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in India. According to one figure, up to 24 times of the total production of apples in India is imported from outside countries. Apart from apples, walnuts are also produced in Kashmir. About 90 percent of the nut and kernel in the country is produced in Kashmir.
