The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) having accepted the resignation of their assistant coach. Richard Halsall, who cited family reasons to quit his role with immediate effect. BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said in a statement on Tuesday, "Richard has officially submitted his resignation. We understand that his decision is from family considerations and he wishes to stay close to home especially to be by the side of his unwell father. The Board respects his priorities and has accepted the resignation,"

"Richard has been an integral member of the Bangladesh team management during the last four years and part of many successes of the national team. The Board would like to thank Richard for his contribution to Bangladesh cricket and wishes him the very best for his future,'' he added.

BCB opted for an overhaul in the team management after their failure in the home series against Sri Lanka - which was Halsall's last assignment - followed by their failure to clinch the tri-nation series at home. It had granted extended leave to Halsall, who was not available for the Nidahas Trophy, while also making the surprise call of naming Courtney Walsh as the interim head coach in their recent campaign in Sri Lanka.

Former assistant coach Richard Halsall was more likely to be appointed as head coach having served the team in an interim role till the Sri Lanka series. The BCB was moving in that direction before a change was brought to that plan following the insistence of some senior cricketers. BCB appointed Simon Helmot and Champaka Ramanayake, as coaches for the high-performance unit as batting and bowling coach respectively for the tri-series in Sri Lanka.
