South Superstar Krishna died on Tuesday in Hyderabad, a day after he was hospitalized. He died at the age of 79 and breathed his last at around 4 am. Krishna was also the father of popular actor Mahesha Babu. He was in depression after his wife Indra Devi death in September. Various Tollywood celebrities paid tribute to the veteran actor.

South Star Chiranjeevi Took to social media and wrote, "This is sad beyond words. It is unbelievable that the Superstar Krishna has left us. He is a person with a heart as big as the Himalayas. A Breath of adventure (This was literal translation, read it as an adventurous soul), a synonym for bravery (a brave heart). Bravery, adventure, determination, humane, and goodness… he is a combination of all of this."

The actor further added, "Having such a personality is not just a rare thing for the Telugu film industry, but in the entire film industry. A heartfelt tribute to the personality that made Telugu film industry proud! We pray for peace for his soul and convey our condolences to our brother Mahesh Babu, his family and his innumerable fans."

Jr NTR also pens a heartfelt note. He wrote, "Krishna garu is another name for adventure. Apart from many experimental films and distinctive characters, your credit for introducing many techniques to Telugu cinema will always be remembered. My thoughts are with Mahesh Anna and the family. Om Shanthi. Superstar forever," 

Jr NTR also shared a note in Telugu, “SUPER STAR KRISHNA. End of an era. My deepest condolences to @urstrulyMahesh sir, family and Krishna Gaaru’s extended family which includes you, me and every Telugu cinema fan."

Superstar, Krishna was married to Indira Devi and later to Vijaya Nirmala. While Vijaya Nirmala passed away in 2019, Indira died in September 2022. He is father to five children; Ramesh Babu, Mahesh Babu, Padmavathi, Manjula and Priyadarshini. Ramesh Babu passed away in January 2022. On the career front he has featured in various big south films like Pandanti Kapuram, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 1972. Some of his best films include Alluri Seetharama Raju, Simhasanam, Gudachari 116, James Bond 777, Mugguru Kodukulu and Anna Thammudu, among others.
