New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19 against the second leg of the IPL 2021. Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teams have reached UAE, while the Delhi Capitals (DC) team will fly to UAE on Saturday (August 21). The first leg was captained by Rishabh Pant, who directed Delhi Capitals as Shreyas Iyer was away from the cricket field at the time due to injury.
But Iyer is now fit and will be seen playing for the Delhi Capitals in the second leg of IPL 2021. Iyer's return has also added to a problem for the franchise team. Now will Pant continue to captain in the remaining matches of IPL 2021 or will Iyer take over the captaincy? It is being discussed continuously. In fact, Delhi, captained by Iyer, were runners-up in the 2020 IPL, while in Pant's captaincy DC tops the point table in the current season.
A Delhi Capitals official told the media that the Delhi Capitals team will leave for UAE on Saturday. The team will leave Delhi with home players and officials. The Home Players of the Delhi Capitals are already in quarantine in Delhi. Shreyas Iyer has already arrived UAE with a fitness coach.
