New Delhi: Team India and its devoted following are eagerly awaiting the return of its young wicketkeeper batsman as Rishabh Pant continues to recover from an injury that forced him to sit out. Videos of Pant's training and rehabilitation have been well received; however there is no set timetable for the 25-year-old's comeback. Pant was involved in a near-fatal vehicle accident on December 30, 2022, which resulted in multiple injuries. Pant faces a tight deadline to fully recover before the ICC releases the schedule for the World Cup 2023 in India later this year, even though the possibilities don't look great. However, Pant has continued to train despite this. Pant has made significant progress in his rehabilitation from being bed-ridden, but still has a longer bridge to cross.

Due to his ailments, Pant will likely miss a lot more games, including the IPL and the World Test Championship final. The only thing for which he is thankful is Pant's second inning, which he began after escaping the collision on the Delhi-Roorkie motorway. And on Wednesday, Pant updated his bio on Instagram with a fresh bit of information. It stated, "Second D.O.B - 05/01/23," alluding to the day as his second birth, over a week following the collision. Of course, Pant's actual birthdate is still October 4, 1997.

Pant was taken to Mumbai where he underwent a successful knee ligament surgery after initially receiving care at Saksham Hospital in Roorkie and subsequently MAX, Dehradun. Pant tore all three major ligaments in his knee; two were repaired right away, and the third was fixed six weeks later. It had been predicted that Pant would miss the majority of 2023, but it was now being said that his recovery was going more quickly than anticipated. Pant was pain-free when he arrived at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, but his lower body's strength and mobility remained a concern.

Fortunately, Pant has made an incredible recovery from using crutches to walk normally again, albeit with a knee cap. Pant has expressed gratitude to those who came to the cricketer's aid in the nick of time and saved his life by averting any potentially fatal injuries during the course of his rehabilitation. Pant is required to try out as many physical activities as he can, including swimming, aquatherapy, and table tennis, as part of his recovery at the NCA. His recent Instagram post of himself with colleagues KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Yuzvendra Chahal gave rise to optimism for a miraculously speedy recovery.
