One of the most loved movies of this year Kantara breaks all the records at the Box office. The small-budget movie became a pan-India film because of its story. Kantara  made Rishab Shetty a global superstar. Recently Rishabh Shetty announced the second part of the film.

In a recent interview, Rishab revealed details about its part 2 at a recent event. According to a report, Rishabh dropped a few hints about Kantara 2. The actor-director said that the preliminary work is underway and promised that the audiences are in for plenty of surprises. He said, "We are researching for the script. Preliminary work is underway. In the prequel, the audiences are in for plenty of surprises, he promised. Even the film’s genre will be different.”

He was also asked about South Star Rajinikanth will star in Kantara 2. The star remained mum about the same. Rajinikanth was impressed with Kantara and also praised. Rishab had also shared how he met Rajinikanth at his Chennai home and discussed Kantara among other topics.

Earlier Rishabh also shares details about part 2. He said, “What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year. The idea came to my mind while I was shooting for Kantara. It is because the history of Kantara has more depth to it. Currently, we are in the middle of digging into more details. As the research is still underway, it would be very early to reveal details about the film.”

Speaking about Kantara, which translates to the mystical forest, tells the story of a local demigod (Bhoota) who trades forest land to the tribe’s people with a king in 1870 in exchange for happiness. Many years later, when the king’s son grows greedy and wants the land back, he dies due to the wrath of Bhoota. Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, Kantara follows a Kambala champion, played by Rishab, who comes to loggerheads with an upright Forest Range officer, Murali (Kishore).
