Its story begins with that a virtuous Brahmin resided in the country called Vidarbha and his wife's name was Susheela. This Brahmin couple had two children, a son and a daughter. When the daughter grow young, she was married. However, within a few days, her husband left her body. This caused a lot of grief to the couple and then they started living with their daughter by making a hut on the banks of the Ganges. One day, when the Brahmin's widow daughter was resting in the hut, at that time insects started appearing on her body. Girl told this to mother. After this the woman told all this to her husband and asked him that Prannath! What is the reason for our girl's condition?
The Brahmin wanted to find the answer. The Brahmin got information about this incident through Samadhi. Where it came to the fore, that his daughter was a Brahmin in her previous life and during this time she touched the utensil as soon as she got menstruation. The girl did not observe the fast of Rishi Panchami due to the sighting in this birth, and due to this, there were insects in her body. It is known in the scriptures of Hinduism that when a woman is going through menstruation and she goes against it, she becomes impure like Chandalini on the first day, Brahmaghatini on the second day and Dhobin on the third day. She cleanses only after bathing etc. on the fourth day. It was further told in the story that if the girl observes Rishi Panchami fast with a pure and honest heart, then she will be free from all sorrows. After this, at the behest of the father, the Brahmin widow girl observed a fast of Rishi Panchami and duly worshiped.
