BREAKING! Road accident in Jalukbari, 7 Engg students killed

GUWAHATI: At least students of Assam Engineering College were killed while 5 others sustained injuries in a road accident that took place at Jalukbari area in Assam's Guwahati late on Sunday night, said the Joint police commissioner, Guwahati, Thube Prateek Vijay Kumar.

"The incident took place at Jalukbari area. As per the preliminary investigation, we have found that the deceased persons are students," Thube Prateek Vijay Kumar added.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident in Guwahati's Jalukbari area and assured of providing all possible medical assistance to the injured.

Three occupants of the pick-up van, including the driver, were also seriously  injured and admitted to the hospital, as per reports.

Taking to Twitter, Assam CM Wrote: "Extremely anguished by the loss of young and precious lives in the road accident at Jalukbari. My deepest condolences to their parents and families. I have also spoken to authorities at GMCH. All possible medical help is being provided to those injured."

As per police, one speedy four-wheeler which was coming from the Azara area crossed over the divider and crashed into a goods carrier vehicle on the opposite lane.
