Amritsar: The Punjab government, under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, is trying to dispose of waste plastic and use it in development works. Bathinda Municipal Corporation has also found a meaningful solution of waste plastic. The corporation has started the work of making roads from plastic waste. Punjab Government Minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar has given this information.
He has told that with the introduction of the use of plastic in the construction of the road by the Municipal Corporation Bathinda staff, a meaningful solution of plastic waste has also been found and it also reduces the cost. He said that in Bathinda the road has been constructed from Bajwa Ghar to the main street and street no 3-A in Jujhar Singh Nagar using plastic waste. Apart from this, a road has been made from plastic in street number 3-B Jujhar Singh Nagar. He told that 8 percent plastic waste has been used in bitumen in the construction of 1000 running feet long road.
He told that the use of plastic in the construction of roads will be successful in resolving the problem of plastic waste, which will make the environment clean and pollution free. He said that with this the roads would be made of better quality than before. Along with this, the cost of making roads will also come down. According to the minister, its immediate results are satisfactory. Soon more committees/corporations will use plastic waste for road construction works.
