Wicket-keeper batsman Robin Uthappa, who was part of the Indian cricket team that won the T20 World Cup, has revealed that between 2009 and 2011, he was struggling with stress and there was a time when he even thought of committing suicide. He made his debut in a 2006 match against England. He has played 46 ODIs and 13 T20 matches for India so far. Uthappa said in the first session of the webinar 'Mind, Body and Soul' organized by Rajasthan Royals Foundation in collaboration with NS Wahia Foundation and McLean Hospital (affiliated with Howard Medical School)  "I did not know that much about myself, then I was learning a lot of things and kept improving. Now I am very much aware of myself and quite sure of myself with my thoughts. Now I know how to manage myself "

He said, "I feel like I have reached this place today because I have faced many difficult moments. I was very tense and had thoughts of committing suicide. I remember in the years 2009 and 2011 it used to happen regularly and every day I used to have such thoughts. "

Uthappa went on to say, "There was a time when I didn't even think about cricket. It was far away from my mind. I kept thinking about how I will survive today. What is happening in my life and what path am I going on. While playing cricket, such thoughts were far from the mind but when there was no match, it was very difficult in the offseason. In those days I used to sit and think that I would count to three and by running I would jump from the balcony, but then there was something that would stop me from doing so."
