Afghanistan's Kandahar airport has been attacked by a rocket. Airport officials have reported this. Taliban fighters have surrounded Kandahar and the war with Afghan security forces is currently underway in the districts. An airport official said that at least three rockets landed at Kandahar airport in southern Afghanistan late in the night.

The same Taliban has stepped up its campaign to capture large parts of Afghanistan. The dispute between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters continues in most parts of the country. Kandahar airport chief Masood Pashtun told AFP that three rockets were fired at the airport last night and two of them collided with the runway. Due to this, all flights from the airport have been suspended.

The same attack comes at a time when Taliban fighters have surrounded Herat, Lashkar Gah, and Kandahar. The Taliban have taken a spectacular lead in rural areas of the country ever since the announcement of withdrawal of foreign forces by September. On the other hand, a Kandahar MP said that the crisis of Kandahar going into the hands of the Taliban is looming large. Taliban fighters have entered here and are constantly fighting with the security forces. So far, tens of thousands of people have been displaced from Kandahar due to war. These persons have gone to countries like Pakistan, Iran and taken refuge.
