ADELAIDE: India captain Rohit Sharma reportedly hurt his forearm during a net session before of their ICC T20 World Cup semifinal match against England at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.

An ice pack was reportedly attached to the flamboyant opener's right arm on Tuesday, according to a report in crictracker.com. Sharma reportedly left the practise area after that to observe the events from the sidelines before going back for practise. According to the report, the 35-year-old still appeared to be in "severe discomfort."

"As part of the routine practise sessions, Rohit Sharma was pitted against S. Raghu, the Indian team's throwdown specialist, at the Adelaide Oval. During the session, the Indian skipper was struck on the right forearm by a short ball that abruptly leaped off the length area "says the report.

Sharma attempted to block the delivery but was struck. With the icepack securely in place, he spent a short while on the sidelines before returning to training, but this time he just played defensive shots.

The report also stated that the Indian support staff would evaluate the skipper.

It is unknown how much Sharma's injury will affect his training and chances of playing the semifinal game. The semifinal is on Thursday. After 35 years, India will face Jos Buttler's team in a World Cup quarterfinal match. They last interacted at the Wankhede Stadium during the 1987 World Cup semifinal.
