Trinidad: When Indian captain Rohit Sharma talks with reporters at conventional press conferences, whether they are from India, England, or the Caribbean, there is never a dull moment.

The Indian captain made fun of his teammate Ishan Kishan, who celebrated his 25th birthday on Tuesday, in another instance of Rohit being in his element while speaking to reporters. Youngster Kishan made his Test debut in the series opener against the West Indies, just days before spending his birthday in the Caribbean with Rohit and company.

In a match when captain Rohit smashed his 10th red-ball century, wicketkeeper-batter Kishan recorded his first-ever Test run for Team India. Rohit, who gets along well with Kishan, was questioned about the birthday present he gave to his younger sibling. Under Rohit's direction, Kishan played in his first Test match, and the Indian captain did not declare the Indian innings until the rookie had scored his first run in the series opener on Dominica.

Rohit made the humorous demand that birthday boy Kishan make a century in his next game for the visitors when speaking to reporters prior to the second Test match between India and the West Indies. "What birthday gift he wants? Kya chahiye bhai tereko?' (What do you want brother?) When asked about Kishan's birthday by the reporter, Indian captain Rohit responded, "You have everything." After Rohit's witty comment, everyone, including the reporters and even Kishan, started laughing.

"We ought to consult the team on this. The team should have made a contribution. Birthday gift tu hum logo ko dey bhai 100 - run karkey (You should give us a birthday gift by scoring 100 runs)," Rohit added.
