The passing of Queen Elizabeth II may have been the turning point in repairing the rift between Prince Harry and Prince William, who attended their grandmother's funeral together at Balmoral. Nearly 18 months after Prince Philip's death, they unexpectedly reunite. Royal analyst Katie Nicholl discussed the "rift" between the royal siblings, which "runs deep" and "caused The Queen a tremendous deal of anguish," in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Katie Nicholl stated that there is "a lot of friction" between Prince Harry and Prince William, even when they are in Balmoral,  "I think there is every hope that this will hopefully trigger some sort of reconciliation between these two brothers, who for the past 18 months have really been brothers at war." Katie added that members of the royal family, "wanted Prince Harry to be there, even though he was unable to get to Balmoral in time to see his grandmother," while no invitation was given to Meghan Markle to join them at Balmoral.

"She [Meghan Markle] has said she will go to Balmoral another time. But I think it is quite significant that Prince Harry travelled to Balmoral on his own without his wife," Nicholl remarked. Kate Middleton, the wife of William, was also absent from Balmoral. Princess Anne, King Charles III, and Camila were by their mother's side as she passed away. Prince Harry landed soon after Queen Elizabeth's passing was made public, while Prince William came with Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and his wife Sophie.

Despite the ups and downs among the royal family members, Katie concluded, "In the end, it's just a family that is grieving a huge loss, "This is a family in mourning now, and of course, the queen was a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother."
