Color's new running show Shakti: Astitva ke Ehsas ki has entirely different concept based on lives of a transgender. The show is first of its kind on television. Rubina Dilaik is seen playing the role of a transgender and Vivian Dsena is seen opposite her. Also describes the ways how she overcomes the obstacle of her life due to be a transgender.
On asking Rubina about playing a transgender she responded,"It’s a human instinct to have apprehensions first, the fear of whether I will be accepted or not, the fear of rejection. But my confidence was much stronger and once I take a step towards something, I never retreat back. Yes, people only recognise us by the characters that we live on day to day basis because we do daily soaps. The joy of performing that character has always been larger than the fear. I think striking a balance between that fear and the joy of working constantly keeps me on my toes to do something better."
She also said on being asked about the difficulty level to portray the character, "I do not believe in method acting. I strongly believe that an actor only reacts to the situation. I had the opportunity of sitting down with the makers of the show and understanding what they are really looking at and that time spent with the story writers has really helped me understand how this character is going to evolve with time."
Rubina to act with Vivian said,"He is a thorough professional and provides the comfort zone for an actor to perform when two actors share the same screen space. He has provided that comfort and understanding that we both can share and portray our characters easily and respectfully on screen."
