Dehradun: The garbage that people turn their back on seeing, the same garbage has become a source of income of lakhs for the Rudraprayag Municipality in Uttarakhand. Now ordinary people can also earn from this garbage. For this, no effort is required, but a month's worth of inorganic waste has to be collected and given to the municipality. The municipality will collect this garbage from the houses and earn it for the people. In such a situation, income can be made by collecting inorganic waste sitting at home.
According to the information, in the year 2019, where the municipality Rudraprayag had earned fifteen thousand rupees from inorganic garbage. At the same time, in the year 2021, the figure of income has gone into lakhs. In three months, the municipality has earned more than two lakhs from inorganic waste. Now the municipality has set a target of earning one million per year from inorganic waste. The garbage, which was once used to bring disgrace to the municipality, is now earning lakhs of rupees. In the last two years, the municipality has earned more than three lakh rupees from inorganic waste, while compost is being prepared from organic waste, which is planned to be sold according to the grade. The money received from the garbage is deposited in the municipal fund and is used for development works.
15 years have passed since Rudraprayag, situated at the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini, became a municipality. The municipality area with a population of about 15,000 has been divided into seven wards. From where about 6 tonnes of garbage is being collected daily by the municipality from homes and shops. This garbage includes 40 quintals of organic and 20 quintals of inorganic waste. Municipality EO Seema Rawat told that people can earn by keeping inorganic garbage in their homes. People can collect one month's inorganic waste in their homes and give it to the municipality. The vehicle of the municipality will come to the homes of the people and take away the inorganic waste.
