Rupee Versus Dollar: On Tuesday, the Indian rupee rose 3 paise to close at 76.90 against the US dollar, tracking higher domestic equities and a weaker dollar. Forex traders said the rupee's appreciation was limited because the escalating Russia-Ukraine conflict has sapped market risk appetite, driving investors to safe-haven assets.

The local currency opened at 77.02 against the US dollar on the interbank forex market, with an intraday high of 76.71 and a low of 77.05. The rupee ended the day at 76.90, up 3 paise from its previous close. Brent crude futures rose 2.73 percent to $126.57 per barrel, the global oil benchmark.

The rupee fell for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, falling 76 paise to close at 76.93 against the US dollar, after hitting a lifetime low of 77 against the US dollar, as crude oil prices rose to multi-year highs amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the strength of the US currency against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.18 percent to 99.11.

The BSE Sensex finished 581.34 points or 1.10 percent higher at 53,424.09, while the broader NSE Nifty rose 150.30 points or 0.95 percent to 16,013.45. According to stock exchange data, foreign institutional investors continued to be net sellers in the capital market on Monday, offloading shares worth Rs7,482.08 crore.
