India, which is trying to strengthen economic relations with the Far East region of Russia, the powerful country of the world, wants the Russian government to sell coal at a special discounted rate. India has expressed its desire to buy large quantities of coal from this region. All these possibilities were considered in a meeting of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday with Leonard Petukov, CEO of Far East Russia Investment and Export Agency.

A meeting was held in New Delhi on this matter, in which the Ambassador of Russia, besides senior officials of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Steel and Ministry of Coal was involved. In the talks, besides importing coal from this region of Russia, possibilities of establishing cooperation in other fields of mining were also considered.
Three months ago, PM Narendra Modi had traveled to Far East Russia and not only announced investment from India but also there was talk of contributing to the social development there. After that, the Prime Minister of Petroleum has visited Russia twice. This was the third meeting of this order held in New Delhi. The next step is to establish connectivity between the ports on the east coast of India from the said region of Russia. In the meeting held on Tuesday, Russia was also proposed by India to help in the development of the port as well as the development of the rail network. Along with this, Pradhan also said that what concession the Russian agency can give to India for exporting coking coal, it should be clearly stated. India imports 50 million tonnes of coking coal annually and Russia has a large amount of its reserves and its price can also be very economical.
