Russia introduces ‘propaganda of terrorism’ with set of amendments in Criminal Laws

Moscow [Russia], December 30 (NT): Russia on Friday amended its law in order to fissure on terrorist activities in the nation and to harshly punish those who finance terror campaign or employ terrorists.

As per sources and According to Xinhua, all the amendments of the Criminal Law were available on Russia's official website for legal information. These were signed by the Russian president Vladimir Putin.

The new amendments direct that suspects convicted of funding terrorism or employing terrorists will face eight to 20 years in the detention center, along with a hefty fine of 300,000 roubles to 700,000 rubles or a life imprisonment, if the charges are more rigorous.

The set of amendments also represented ‘propaganda of terrorism' to the Criminal Law, and the convicted will face five to seven years in jail with a fine of 300,000 roubles to one million roubles.

Previous to the amendments were made, such criminals will face a top-security prison term of up to ten years.

In a former statement, Russian Federal Security Service director Alexander Bortnikov had stated that the terrorists from the Middle East were attempting to make a way into Russia and other nations after overwhelm in Syria and Iraq.

The string of amendments moves toward at a time when an explosion moved up and down in a supermarket in St Petersburg on Wednesday, injuring 10 people. The Islamic State (IS) claimed liability for the attack. (NT)
