Russia Warns Britain of Potential Retaliation Following Cameron's Comments on Ukraine Conflict

In a stern message delivered on Monday, Russia cautioned Britain about potential consequences if British weaponry were deployed by Ukraine against Russian territory. The warning suggested Moscow might target British military assets, both within Ukraine and elsewhere, in response.

The British Ambassador to Russia, Nigel Casey, was summoned to the foreign ministry, where a formal protest was lodged following remarks made by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron. Last week, Cameron stated that Ukraine possessed the right to utilize British-supplied arms to target Russia.

Russia's foreign ministry condemned Cameron's comments, asserting that they implied Britain's involvement in the conflict and contradicted prior assurances that weapons provided to Ukraine wouldn't be directed against Russia. They emphasized that any attacks on Russian soil using British arms could prompt retaliatory measures against British military installations and equipment, both in Ukraine and beyond.

Labeling Cameron's remarks as a serious escalation, the foreign ministry urged the British Ambassador to reconsider the potential catastrophic fallout of such rhetoric and to swiftly disavow the provocative statements made by the head of the Foreign Office.

Cameron's remarks were made during a recent visit to Kyiv, where he expressed support for Ukraine's right to use British-provided weapons as it saw fit. Reuters attempted to reach British officials for comment on Monday, but no response was immediately available.
