New Delhi: Russia's newly appointed Ambassador Denis Alipov, who arrived in India recently, has said that India has urged him to evacuate Indian students stranded in Ukraine and he is paying heed to it. At the same time, he has also appreciated India's stand at the United Nations (UN). At the same time, he has also made a statement about the impact of the Ukraine crisis on the defence deals between Russia and India.

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov on Wednesday said, "We are in touch with Indian authorities regarding Indians stranded in Kharkiv and other areas of eastern Ukraine. We have received warnings from The Indian side for emergency evacuation of people stranded there. This is being worked on." Russia and India are old strategic partners. India also understands the seriousness and depth of our crisis with Ukraine. We are also grateful to him for the balanced stand taken by India at the UN.

On the question of western countries banning Russia over the defence deal with India and the Ukraine crisis making a difference, Dennis Alipov said, "As far as the supply of S-400 to India is concerned, I want to make it clear that there will be no disruption of any kind. We have ways to continue this deal without hindrance. No section will have any effect on this deal.''
