Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov underlined Moscow's strong and stable ties with New Delhi during a meeting with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Monday, saying that "we are awaiting 2+2 format meeting today." Lavrov made his comments ahead of today's 2+2 ministerial meeting between India and Russia.

"I would like to reiterate what  S Jaishankar mentioned regarding the nature of India's relationship with Russia. Today, we are expecting a 2+2 format meeting "During his opening remarks at the meeting with his Indian colleague, Lavrov stated. "Important documents have been created for signing as a result of today's events," Lavrov stated.

The Russian Foreign Minister's comments came after Jaishankar said that the India-Russia cooperation is unique, and that the two countries' ties have remained exceptionally robust in the face of fast geopolitical upheaval. "India and Russia have a particular and unique relationship. I am optimistic that today's session will be quite productive. After a two-year hiatus, the biennial India-Russia summit is taking place today "During his meeting, Jaishankar stated.

At Sushma Swaraj Bhawan earlier today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet later in the day for the 21st annual India-Russia summit.
