The eastern Ukrainian town of Volnovakha has been 'totally demolished' by Russian forces after a days-long bombing assault, but fighting for territory continues to avoid a Russian encirclement as inhabitants refuse to accept Moscow's dominance, as per Daily Mail report.

Late Sunday, Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko acknowledged that Volnovakha had been destroyed, claiming that the town "no longer exists" as a result of Moscow's "war of annihilation," which has left the town's smoldering remnants "in the hands of Russian-backed separatists."

Images and videos released on social media showed Russian military entering the burned-out town, which is now all ruins, complete with the tell-tale Z marks on their trucks. Moscow's troops are continuing to shell important Ukrainian cities indiscriminately, according to the Daily Mail, and are alleged to be closing in on Kyiv for a "all-out attack" in the coming days.

A private US company Maxar Technologies said, satellite photographs acquired on Saturday morning indicated substantial damage to civilian infrastructure and residential buildings around the southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol. It said, fires were detected in the city's western portion, and scores of high-rise apartment complexes were seriously damaged.
