United States: In a shocking incident, Andrey Botikov, one of the researchers who contributed to the development of Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V, was found strangled to death with a belt.

According to the Russian news agency TASS, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the Russian scientist was found dead in his apartment on 2 March.

Botikov, a senior researcher at the Gamaleya National Research Center for Ecology and Mathematics, was 47. According to a report in the Russian media, the police have detained a suspect in connection with the murder of Andrey Botikov.

Notably, the scientist had received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland award from Russian President Vladimir Putin for his work on the COVID vaccine.

The Committee, which is the body leading the investigation in Russia, announced in a statement to Telegram that his death was being treated as a possible homicide.

The suspect was detained by Russian police on suspicion of murder. Within no time, the location of the attacker was known.

During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and accepted responsibility. The defendant has a criminal history because he was accused of having committed a serious crime.

The probe committee intends to soon ask the court to place the defendant in custody pending trial," according to the probe committee. You may recall that India authorized Sputnik V, the first international COVID vaccine to be administered to its citizens .

The nasal coronavirus vaccine was first introduced in Russia. Sputnik V is considered the first nasal flu shot in history.
