KIEV: Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine hosted an online summit of dozens of global leaders to rally support for the return of the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014. The Summit dubbed Crimea Platform is Ukraine's second attempt to rally international support for reclaiming the Black Sea peninsula from Russia.

Zelensky said during the videoconference that "a land of paradise was changed into a depressing and dependent zone into a region of high fences, barbed wire, and lawlessness."

"Citizens from Crimea and in Crimea... I understand that Crimea is with Ukraine and is waiting for us to come back. I want you to knowthat we will definitely come back." The President said that when Ukraine regains control over Crimea, it will fix "everything that the occupiers did on the peninsula", reports  by Ukrayinska Pravda.

Zelensky claimed that the invasion of Crimea, the terror that the Crimean Tatar people through, and the persecution of the Muslim population marked the beginning of "the degeneration of Russia."  "We must defeat Russian aggression if we are to defeat terror, bring stability and security back to our region, Europe, and the entire globe. Liberating Crimea from occupation is necessary. There, at the start, is where it will all end. Additionally, this will effectively revive the global judicial system "he said.

Speaking at the summit virtually, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg acknowledged that the conflict has become "a grinding war of attrition."  "This is a conflict of logistics and wills. Therefore, we must continue to support Ukraine over the long term to ensure that it succeeds as a sovereign independent country "he said.

German Cancellor Olaf Scholz announced that his nation is getting ready to provide Kiev with an additional 20 pickup-mounted missile launchers, 12 armoured recovery vehicles, and more than 500 million euros ($499.3 million) worth of armaments. The majority will be provided in 2023, but some, according to Scholz, will be delivered "much early."
Scholz addressed the crowd at the Crimea Platform event, saying, "The world community will never tolerate Russia's illegitimate, imperialist takeover of Ukrainian territory."
