CAPE TOWN: Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, and Adil Rashid are among the 50 players up for grabs in the new T20 tournament, and several top England players are reportedly looking for big paycheques in the SA20 auction later on Monday after their recent enormous success in the Australia's Big Bash League (BBL) player draught.

Jos Buttler, the current England white-ball captain, and all-rounder Moeen Ali are among the English players who have already signed with SA20, but according to a Daily Mail report, Morgan, Roy, Tymal Mills, and Rashid will be sold later on Monday.

The SA20 league's commissioner, Graeme Smith, a former captain of South Africa, hopes the franchise competition will overtake the Indian Premier League as the second most watched cricket league worldwide.

"With Buttler and Liam Livingstone poised to earn close to 450,001 pounds each, along with Sam Curran, Reece Topley, and Moeen Ali, five of the competition's 22 pre-signed players are English. Four more players in the top eight are up for sale in Cape Town to the six franchises, who are all funded by organisations that own IPL teams: Morgan, Roy, Mills, and Rashid. Each of those four will carry at least 85,000 pounds, "the report stated.

With India excluded, more than 315 athletes from 13 different nations will compete for spots on the six squads of 17.
Smith was quoted in the report as stating, "It's really significant for a nation like South Africa to own something (like) that (a T20 league), commercially, could be a major deal."

"South African cricket has lost some of its prestige. The world of cricket does not need South Africa to regress. There had to be something that South African cricket possessed that they could develop in order to maintain that strength. We can only hope that it would help us like the IPL has helped Indian cricket "Smith, who captained the Proteas in a record-breaking 108 Tests, added.
