Sabarimala temple: Police returned 10 women before gates opened

Kochi: The roof of the famous Sabarimala temple in Kerala will be opened at five o'clock this evening, but before that, the police have sent back 10 women, aged between 10 and 50 years. According to the news agency ANI, all these women came from Andhra Pradesh to worship at the temple. But the police have returned these women even before the sealing of the temple.

The roof of the temple will be open for about two months, till 20 January. A few women activists have been warned to enter the temple and worship before the sealing of the temple. The Kerala government has said that it has not provided security to the female devotees, but several activists have given information about their plans to enter the temple.

The Sabarimala Karma Committee, the apex body of the two organizations, said that if they try to enter the temple they will be stopped. Bhumata Brigade leader Trupti Desai and Chennai-based group Maniti Sangam have announced their plans to enter the temple. Apart from them, 45 female devotees have registered for darshan on the online portal of the temple.
