Sacred Games Controversy: Anurag Kashyap hails Rahul’s remark

New Delhi [India], July 16 (NT): B-Town filmmaker and “Gang of Wasseypur” fame Anurag Kashyap has praised Congress president Rahul Gandhi's remark on his heated web show 'Sacred Games'.

the filmmaker and co-director of this web show  Kashyap expressed his sentiments on micro blogging website Twitter and said, "That's a yay," quoting Congress ‘scion tweet.

The polpular Netflix's web series 'Sacred Games', has been talk of the town for wrong reasons and landed in a legal soup over its particular content that reportedly insulted ex. prime minister and Rahul's father Rajiv Gandhi.

 Worth mention here Rahul on Sunday wrote in a Twitter criticizing the saffron Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology that he considers that freedom of expression is a fundamental democratic right.

"BJP/RSS believe the freedom of expression must be policed & controlled. I believe this freedom is a fundamental democratic right. My father lived and died in the service of India. The views of a character on a fictional web series can never change that. #SacredGames," Rahul expressed his views on controversial web series.

The hullabaloo over the web series commenced when a complaint was lodged by Rajiv Sinha, a Congress member from West Bengal. He alleged that the series was "misrepresenting facts during his (Rajiv Gandhi) regime".

A plea was filed in Delhi High Court seeking to take away questionable content from the series.

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment's Phantom Films joint venture produced the web series, 'Sacred Games’. It is based on Vikram Chandra's 2006 thriller novel.Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte are in the lead roles. (NT)
