The grand consecration of Lord Rama's idol is scheduled to take place at the magnificent Rama Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, evoking tremendous enthusiasm across the nation. People are preparing for a celebration akin to Diwali in every household when Lord Rama returns to his abode. However, the journey to establish Lord Rama's rightful place and the construction of his temple was far from simple. It was made possible through the sacrifices of the kar sevaks (volunteers), whose dedication and struggles were unparalleled.

Approximately 32 years ago, the events surrounding the Ram Janmabhoomi movement witnessed an intensity that is hard to fathom today. While media reports provide some insights, the true extent of the sacrifices made by the kar sevaks can only be understood through direct eyewitness accounts or discussions with the families of these volunteers.

Recently, a viral video on social media has been circulating, depicting a grim incident from Ayodhya. It shows kar sevaks being shot and thrown into the Sarayu River. Subsequently, their lifeless bodies were recovered, some identifiable, while others had suffered to the point of being unrecognizable. The video is chilling, raising questions about the atrocities faced by these dedicated individuals.

Sadhvi Ritambhara, associated with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, shared her perspective in a recent interview. She emphasized that the Rama Temple is not just an ordinary temple; it symbolizes the reinstatement of Hindu pride and devotion spanning 500 years. When asked about the violence faced by the kar sevaks, she expressed her dismay, stating that such brutality should never have occurred. She drew a poignant analogy, comparing it to the pain felt when one's home is set on fire by their own family members.

In the same context, an interview with journalist Mahendra Tripathi, who reported extensively on the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, reveals his emotional response to witnessing the suffering of kar sevaks. He recounts capturing photographs during the violent incidents and even labeling Sardar Param Singh Bullar as the "murderer of kar sevaks." Even after 32 years, the memories continue to evoke deep emotions, making it difficult for him to sleep at times.

It's crucial to acknowledge that the Rama Temple is not an ordinary place of worship. It represents a centuries-old struggle that is witnessing fruition today. The sacrifices of the kar sevaks, who were honored after 32 years, are a testament to the tears shed by the families who contributed to the construction of this temple. As the date of the consecration approaches, the nation stands witness to a saga of devotion, sacrifice, and the resurgence of Indian cultural pride.
