New Delhi: Star Badminton Saina Nehwal ruled out of the championships after losing to Danish player Mia Blichfeld touting her in the pre-quarterfinals. Saina lost to Danish player Mia Bleachfelt in the round of 16. Saina won the first game by 6 points in the ongoing tournament in Switzerland but failed to maintain her rhythm in the next two games and lost the match 21-15, 25-27, 12-21.

The exciting encounter between Saina and Mia Bleachfelt lasted one hour, 12 minutes. Saina won the first game easily by 21-15. Saina Nehwal was leading 12-9 in the second game, but the Danish player did not give Saina a chance to rebound. Bleachfelt won the second game 27-25, followed by the third game 21-12. In the Men's Singles, HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth also crashed out of the Men's Singles.

Prannoy was defeated by Japan's Momta 21-19 21-12. Srikanth was defeated by Thailand's Kandophone 21-14, 21-13 in a 40-minute match. India has expectations from PV Sindhu and B Sai Praneeth. B Sai Praneeth has advanced to the quarterfinals after beating world number eight Anthony Sinisuka Guinting. They won their match 21-19 21-13. In the women's singles pre-quarterfinals, Sindhu defeated American Beiwen Zhang to book a place in the quarterfinals of the World Championships. Sindhu won 21-14, 21-06 in a one-sided manner.
