Lucknow: In the aftermath of the Deoria massacre case, where local strongman Premchand Yadav and his family were brutally murdered, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has come under scrutiny for attempting to inject a caste angle into the incident.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Akhilesh Yadav issued a statement that indirectly advised the Uttar Pradesh government to exercise caution and appealed for steps to maintain peace. He emphasized the importance of ensuring justice for all those involved in the Deoria incident and urged the government and administration to maintain calm and refrain from actions that could be detrimental to peace.

The Deoria massacre case revolves around Premchand Yadav, who was allegedly connected to the Samajwadi Party and frequently involved in land-related controversies. Yadav was accused of using money and political influence to gain control of land and was involved in disputes related to land purchases at lower rates.

Authorities have initiated action against illegal constructions on Premchand Yadav's property, and eviction notices have been posted on several houses, including those of his family members. The notices mention unlawful construction and encroachments on government lands. Family members have been asked to appear in court to respond to show-cause notices. Failure to comply may result in the demolition of encroachments.

The Deoria incident stemmed from a land dispute between Premchand Yadav and Satya Prakash Dubey. Despite Dubey presenting a deed to his portion of the land, daily arguments persisted between the two parties. A complaint was made to the tehsil and police administration on behalf of Satya Prakash Dubey, alleging that Premchand Yadav had built a house on public land belonging to the forest department and government school.

Premchand Yadav was the first to be murdered on October 2nd, followed by the brutal death of Satya Prakash Dubey and five members of his family in retaliation. The police filed a First Information Report against 27 named and 50 unidentified individuals in response to Shobhita, the eldest daughter of Satya Prakash Dubey. Twenty culprits have already been sent to jail.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the offenders had illegally encroached on government land and erected permanent houses in some areas. Eviction notices were posted by the Tehsil administration at the residences of five accused individuals, including Premchand Yadav, his father Ram Bhawan, brother Ramji Yadav, and uncles Paramhans Yadav and Gorakh Yadav. They have been summoned to present themselves with proper proof and documentation on October 7th.

The Deoria massacre shocked the region, leading to widespread condemnation and calls for justice. However, Akhilesh Yadav's attempt to inject caste-based politics into the case has drawn criticism from various quarters, with many urging for a fair and impartial investigation without any political interference.
